1,089,504. Road traffic signals. CLAUDE PAZ & VISSEAUX. Feb. 23, 1966 [Feb. 23, 1965; Oct. 19, 1965], No. 8038/66. Heading G4Q. Road traffic signals comprise lamps arranged beneath the carriageway and synchronized with other signals above or beside the road. In one arrangement a concrete-lined trench covered by glass slabs extends across the road and under the pavement, the latter part containing transformers and providing access space. The part under the road contains trolleys coupled in series and each supporting three different coloured neon tubes. In another arrangement, Fig. 5 (not shown), each set of three neon tubes is mounted in a separate container bolted in position in the trench, a translucent cover forming one wall of the container and standing proud of the road surface and being provided with chamfered edges which direct the light along the road like a prism.
|
