Mobile communications system and method of controlling the power of a transmiting station

The power (P) of a transmission station (MS) in a radio communication system is controlled by receiver station (BS) repeatedly providing a quality parameter of signal (S) transmitted and received by respective station, and comparing it with a rated value. In dependence on the comparison result, the received station generates an instruction (C) for power control and transmits it to transmitter. After considering the instruction, the transmitter adjusts the transmission power, taking into account at least one comparison result (R). Independent claims are included for radio communication system, a transmitter and receiver stations.
