The switching circuit (1) is used to control the current supplied to a light emitting diode, LED, (2) or a matrix of LEDs. In basic form a transistor (32) is controlled by an operational amplifier (31). The reference input (31n) is set by a voltage divider that is formed with a resistor (Rs) coupled to a potentiometer (416). In other versions the reference is set using a microprocessor or laser.
