When thermoplastic oven is first switched on a continuous current flows during a first time period (t1) until the temperature sensor registers the desired operating temperature (TSoll1). This value is in the middle of a tolerance band (Tmax,Tmin). At this point the heating current is switched off and a short time period (t2) contains two short pulses of current. The measured temperature may oscillate on reaching this threshold. It then slowly declines until a minimum threshold value is reached at the end of a third time period (t3). A broad pulse is applied during a fourth time period (t4). If the oven door is opened, the rapid rate of fall of the measured temperature (alpha), triggers a broad current pulse.
