The invention provides an optical short-circuit insert for accommodation in a plug housing, with a plug region 21 with two mutually parallel optical fiber ends 26 of an optical fiber portion 23. A curved region 24 of ch the optical fiber portion 23, intermediate optical fiber ends 26, is guided in an arc of 180 degrees. The optical fiber portion 23 has a curved portion of a fiber consisting of multi-component glass with cladding or of a multi-conductor glass fiber with cladding, which is enveloped in a plastic carrier 29. An optical short-circuit plug with a plug housing enveloping a plug and a short-circuit insert capable of being pushed into it is also provided.
