The device detects the movement of a person and carries out a reaction on detecting movement. It contains a movement sensing and reaction triggering proximity switch (2) that can be variably positioned in height. A light source (3) and a transmitter can be switched on by the proximity switch. At least one connection arrangement (6) is provided for connection to a power supply.
