The invention relates to a method for controlling an energy provider of a drive system, in order to provide load-dependent power to a drive machine in the form of an electric motor, by means of a control device. Said electric motor is fed with power by the energy provider, according to a signal generated by the driver, and the electric motor and energy provider are controlled according to optimised nominal values. The invention is characterised in that when the parameters for the energy provider are modified, the electric motor is controlled in such a way that the energy provider is operated again according to optimising parameters, and in that a nominal value is simultaneously set for the energy provider, according to the driver, in order to readapt the power to be provided by the electric motor(s) to the wish of the driver.
