The display system divides up a picture with outlines into points specified for each pixel or raster element (22) in which a corner point occurs. The pixels are defined by lines (20) crossing at right-angles to each other. The corner points may be transmuted into points at the centers of the relevant pixels and then redundant points, lying in a straight line, are deleted, leaving only points (M1-M22) for the major corners of the outline shape on the card. There are straight lines (10',12') between the corner points.
