<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the OFF current of a switching circuit in an active matrix display. SOLUTION: Five thin film transistors 121-125, 126-130 are connected in series in picture element cells 132, 133. The thin film transistors 121-123 and 125-127 are connected with gate signal lines 134, 135 which are diffenet every rows. The thin film transistors 124, 125, 129, 130 are connected with a common capacitance line 136. When data are written on the picture elements 132, 133, a selection signal is inputted from the gate signal lines 134, 135, and makes the thin film transistors 121-123 and 125-127 function as switching elements. Further a suitable potential is applied from the capacitance line 136, and makes the thin film transistors 124, 125, 129, 130 function as capacitors. Thereby the discharge amount from the picture element cells 132, 133 is reduced.</p> |
