A process for passing a mixture of a fluid and particulate solids through a process system at a predetermined flow-rate comprising diluting the mixture with a fluid, passing the diluted mixture through regulating means, subsequently separating a more concentrated mixture and fluid from the mixture, and recycling at least part of the fluid separated from the diluted mixture as diluting fluid; is applied to the removal of benzene from a C4-6 paraffinic isomerization feedstock by contact with a solid absorbent, e.g. silica gel, in a rotating-disc contactor, e.g. as described in Specification 966,000. Benzene is subsequently stripped from the silica gel slurry by hot benzene-free isomerization product and the resulting mixture used in gasoline blending.ALSO:A process for passing a mixture of a liquid and an absorbent through a process system at a predetermined flow rate, which comprises diluting the mixture with a liquid, passing the diluted mixture through regulating means, subsequently separating a more concentrated mixture for the process and liquid from the mixture, and recycling at least part of the liquid separated from the diluted mixture as diluting liquid. Examples of solid adsorbents are metallo-aluminium silicates, activated carbon, charcoal and natural or synthetic zeolites. Particle diameters are between 5 microns and 50 mm.
|
