PURPOSE:To obtain the subject inhibitor containing a protocyanidine as active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:This Maillard reaction inhibitor contains, as active ingredient, a protocyanidine found in e.g. grape extracts, pref. a protocyanidine as a dimer to decamer (esp. dimer to tetramer) composed of a constituent unit of flavan-3-ol or flavan-3,4-diol of the formula (R1 is H or OH; R2-R4 each are H, OH, methoxy; R5 is H, galloyl or glycopyranosyl). This inhibitor can suppress collagen crosslinking known also as sensile crosslinking which contributes to skin hardening or wrinkle development and pigmentation which contributes to dark skin color and can be applicable as a skin external preparation or cosmetic. |
