PURPOSE: To easily recover vanadium compd., nickel compd., etc., from the dust-collector ash produced in the combustion of fossil fuels. CONSTITUTION: The dust-collector ash obtained in the combustion of fossil fuels and contg. ammonium sulfate and carbon is heated to 520-800 deg.C to thermally decompose the ammonium sulfate and to burn the carbon, and the ammonium sulfate and carbon are removed as the gaseous components. The obtained residue is suspended in water, agitated and then filtered to obtain an insoluble residue having a high content of vanadium oxide and a filtrate contg. nickel sulfate. An alkali is added to the filtrate to deposit nickel hydroxide which is filtered off to obtain nickel hydroxide, and the valuable metals are recovered. The valuable metals are recovered even from the ash contg. magnesium sulfate. The waste water generated in this case is harmless to the environment, and an aq. magnesium sulfate soln. utilizable as the raw material of a magnesium compd. can also be obtained.
|
