A wood boring bit has a small diameter spiral tip with a tapering shape to grip into the wood, and a larger diameter spiral body to cut the hole. The spiral tip is replaceable and has a short shank which locates into a hole in the end of the large spiral, and is secured by a grub screw in a cross bore.
