Antitumor antibodies, proteins, and uses thereof

An isolated monoclonal antibody or antigen binding fragment binds to fetal thymocytes, inhibits proliferation of and induces apoptosis in a cell upon bind the cell and either does not bind adult thymocytes, does not bind to adult bone marrow and/or does not bind to adult B and/or T cells. Preferably the antibody is produced by the hybridoma cell line ATCC No. PTA-377, PTA-404 or PTA-405. Also described is a pharmaceutical composition comprising the antibody and the use of the antibody in the manufacture of a medicament for detecting a tumor cell, inducing apoptosis and inhibiting tumor cell proliferation. Also described are in vitro methods for diagnosing tumor and isolating a protein.
