New diorganotin complexes derived from arylhydroxamic acids, which exhibit activity against various tumors, are obtained by reaction of corresponding dichloro complexes with hydroxamic acids in the presence of KOH in methanol. Diorganotin complexes of formula (I) are new. R = alkyl, e.g. n-butyl, ethyl, or methyl, or aryl, e.g. phenyl; R1 = C6H4X; and X = Cl, NO2 or OCH3. Also claimed is the production of (I) by reaction of the corresponding dichloro-complexes (R2SnCl2) with R1C(O)NHOH in the presence of KOH in methanol.
