A system (10) for the provision of audiovisual material in a mobile environment such as for a bus or train comprises: a) a host computer apparatus (12) forming audiovisual programming data (14) from source material such as from television network and advertisers; b) a local area wireless network (16) to which the computer apparatus is connected for the distribution of a first type of programming data; c) a radio frequency transmitter (60) connected to the computer apparatus for the transmission of a second type of programming data and d) a plurality of vehicles (50n, 40n) each including: di) a local area wireless receiver to receive the first type of programming data; dii) a radio frequency transceiver for receiving the second type of programming data; diii) computer apparatus for processing the first type of programming data and any received second type of programming data to sequence passenger audiovisual programming; div)display means for displaying the video component of the passenger audiovisual programming and dv) wireless local area audio transmitter to broadcast the audio component of the passenger audiovisual programming.
