FIELD: verifying genuineness of color markings printed on documents, securities, and the like. SUBSTANCE: genuineness criterion of marking is slope of spectral curve of color criterion of genuineness in desired range of wavelengths. Data for determining these values are obtained by irradiating marking in reflected or transmitted light by rays of different wavelengths, use being made of detectors and device estimating these values.
