n oral composition such as a dentifrice or mouthwash, comprising an effective antiplaque amount of asubstantially water-insoluble noncatioanic antibacterial agents, such as 2,4,4' - trichloro-2'-hydroxy-diphenyl ether (triclosan) and an antibacterial-enhancing agent which enhances the delivery of said antibacterial agent to and retention thereof on, oral surfaces, such as a synthetic anionic polymeric polycarbooxylate having a molecular weight of about 1.000 to about 1.000.000 and an orally acceptable vehicle effective to enable said antibacterial agent to dissolve in saliva in effective antiplaque amount. |
