<p>A system and method for receiving damage data in a bitstream of encoded data is disclosed. A plurality of candidate decodings (1710) for a plurality of blocks are generated. A measure is generated for each block based upon at least an image portion of the candidate decodings (1715). Compatibility is determined between adjacent blocks (2460) of the plurality of blocks. A candidate decoding is selected based upon the measure and the compatibility of adjacent blocks (2465). In one embodiment, this is used in the transmission of video signals over a potentially lossy communications channel.</p> |
