A purified polynucleotide from Parapoxvirus ovis (PPVO) capable of producing an immune response to PPVO. Also covered is the polypeptide encoded by said polynucleotide, and its use with recombinant viruses comprising a Vaccinia lister genome for the manufacture of a pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of virus related diseases, viral infections, non-viral infections, proliferative diseases, inflammatory diseases, allergic diseases and autoimmune diseases.
