PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fault forecast system which predicts the occurrence of a fault and reports a possibility of the fault before the reliability of the system is lost, a disk device provided with a fault forecasting function, a fault forecasting method, and a fault forecasting program. SOLUTION: The fault forecast system 1 amplifies the signal from a vibration detection sensor 2, a first vibration component detecting section 7 and a second vibration component detecting section 8 extract the vibration components having specific frequencies from the amplified signal and further, an amplitude computing section 9 extracts the amplitude of the respective vibration components. A fault deciding section 5 detects the change in the amplitude of the normal time and the amplitude of the abnormal time (after deterioration) in accordance with the results of the comparison of the amplitude by the section 9 and decides whether the abnormality arises in a motor or not. An output section 6 reports the occurrence of the abnormality when the occurrence of the abnormality in the motor is decided by the section 5. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
