PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding apparatus having extremely practicability capable of realizing lifetime extension by dispersing an action place of repeated stress to the same section, by automatically and finely rolling a section where a rolling element such as a ball abuts on a sliding body. SOLUTION: The sliding apparatus comprises a shaft 1, the sliding body 2 engaged with the shaft 1, a rolling element retainer 4 disposed between the shaft 1 and the sliding body 2, and the rolling element 3 held by the rolling element retainer 4. The rolling element retainer 4, the sliding body 2, and the shaft 1 form a load passage 8 for passing the rolling element 3. The rolling element retainer 4 is disposed finely movably with respect to the sliding body 2. The sliding apparatus has an automatic fine moving mechanism for finely moving the rolling element retainer 4 with respect to the sliding body 2 when the sliding body 2 is slid with respect to the shaft 1. An abutting section of the rolling element 3 on the sliding body 2 is changed by finely moving the rolling element retainer 4. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
