METHOD FOR TREATMENT OF LOTUS ROOT BEFORE SHIPPING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treatment of lotus roots before shipping with which lotus roots with mud harvested from a lotus root field are washed with water and shipped, qualities of lotus roots before shipping are improved and evaluation on the market of lotus roots is raised. SOLUTION: The lotus roots before shipping are immersed or cleaned by using electrolytically formed acidic water obtained by a diaphragm electrolysis using a diluted aqueous solution of an inorganic salt as water to be electrolyzed. The surfaces of the lotus roots are sterilized and bleached. The stains on the surfaces of the lotus roots are eliminated and the sarcocarp of the lotus roots is tightened and hardened to improve the qualities of the lotus roots before shipping.
