PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intercom system in which visibility of a picture is made excellent during a call from a visitor or during a talk with the visitor. SOLUTION: The intercom system is configured by providing a communication means 111 for receiving a monitor image which is picked up by a handset having a camera and transmitted and a communication start signal for starting communications with the handset or transmitting-receiving a predetermined signal, an image composing means 113 for composing the monitor image and an image of a predetermined operating button to create a synthetic image, a display image determining means 112 for determining that the monitor image is to be displayed when the communication means 111 receives the communication start signal and determining that the synthetic image is to be displayed when the communication means 111 does not receive the communication start signal, and a display 114 for displaying the image determined to be displayed by the display image determining means 112 between the synthetic image and the monitor image on one screen.
