METHOD FOR TREATING WHEY WASTEWATER USING MUSHROOM MYCELIA

PURPOSE: Provided is a method for treating whey wastewater, which can treat whet wastewater with more than 90% of treatment efficiency by biological treatment and produce mushroom mycelium instead of generating sludge. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of (a) separating protein from whey wastewater and (b) adjusting pH of the wastewater to be 3.8 to 4.6, and (c) biologically treating the wastewater at 25 to 32 deg.C using mushroom mycelium, wherein the mushroom mycelium is selected from a group consisted of ling chiu mushrooms, oak mushrooms, phellinus linteus, and agaricus bisporus.
