PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor which automatically correct image data and output a person image with optimum characteristics by using an image processor for displaying and printing the person image photographed by a digital camera and to provide an image processing method, its recording medium and its program.

SOLUTION: An image acquisition processing part 13 acquires image data from the recording medium on which the image data of an image including a person is recorded. A face area extraction processing part 14 extracts a face area of the person from the image data acquired by the image acquisition processing part 13. An image characteristic amount calculating part 15 calculates an image characteristic amount of the face area extracted from the image data by the face area extraction processing part 14. A correction effect estimation processing part 16 estimates whether to obtain correction effects by correcting characteristics of the image data on the basis of the image characteristic amount calculated by the image characteristic amount calculating part 15. An image correction processing part 17 corrects the characteristics of the image data on the basis of the image characteristic amount when the correction effect estimation processing part 16 estimates that the correction effects can be obtained.
