PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data distribution system allowable of copying for a private use while preventing unauthorized copying.

SOLUTION: A home server 200 requests the transmission of literary work data by transmitting a user who desires the reproduction permission of the literary work data and/or identification data which identifies equipment to a server 100. The server 100 transmits the literary work data to the home server 200 by attaching the identification data to desired literary work data. The home server 200 receives the literary work data from the server 100. The home server 200 determines whether or not reproduction is permitted to the user who attempts reproduction and/or the equipment and reproduces the literary work data based on the identification data attached to the literary work data.
