PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for applying a liquid or a thermally molten body for forming an adhesive layer by using the liquid or the thermally molten body such as a hot melt material with which an adhesive can be intermittently applied without threading even on an overlap width part for pasting of small area provided at a box type or tray type paper container blank mainly made of a paper base material, good adhesion strength can be obtained with a small amount of the adhesive and further the set time can be also shortened and to provide a production method of paper container in which the adhesive layer is formed by using the application apparatus and then sticking and integration are performed. SOLUTION: The apparatus for applying a liquid or a thermally molten body is provided with a tank, a conduit and a discharge nozzle part respectively having a heating mechanism or a heat insulation mechanism and has a means for sending out the liquid or the thermally molten body by a compressor and a means for suppressing lowering of temperature of an outer periphery of the discharge nozzle part.
