PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal device for transmitting a suitable answer message from a terminating side to a calling side by referring to a schedule. SOLUTION: The portable terminal 1 is connectable to a radio telephone network through a radio unit 12 and a modem 13. A RAM 16 stores categories, schedules and schedules correlated with the time, formed by a user. Upon termination of a call, a CPU 15 decides whether a schedule having a time zone including its termination time exists on the RAM 16, and if existing, does the line connection, reads an answer message corresponding to the schedule from a ROM 17 and sends it to the line.
