PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital color demodulation circuit with a reduced circuit scale and compatible with a plurality of input formats and a color demodulation method adopted by the same. SOLUTION: A digital color demodulator has a subcarrier generating means 2 for generating two subcarriers whose phases differ by 90 degrees, and uses the two subcarriers to demodulate a digitized chrominance carrier signal C into two color difference signals PB/PR in response to the input format of the chrominance carrier signal C. The subcarrier generating means 2 stores a subcarrier table having subcarrier data denoting the two subcarriers by each input format of the chrominance carrier signal C and generates the two subcarriers in response to the input formats on the basis of the subcarrier table.
