<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device with a reduced variation in color tone due to a viewing angle and to provide a surface light source device to be used therefor. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device comprises LEDs (light emitting diodes) 1 emitting light with different colors of R (red), G (green), B (blue) as the light source. Acrylic lenses 2 varying an angular distribution of light from the LEDs 1 are mounted on the light emitting surface side of the LEDs 1. The acrylic lenses 2 have different shapes, respectively, with respect to the LEDs 1 of R, G, B and angular distributions of emitted light are different, respectively, corresponding to the respective LEDs 1 so as to cancel wavelength dependence of transmittance corresponding to the respective viewing angles on a liquid crystal panel 6. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
