PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein heat is caused when a polarization plate is used for optical analysis of each colored light.

SOLUTION: A color composition optical system for composing first, second and third colored light is provided with: a first optical element 21 which has a first optical membrane P reflecting light in a first polarizing direction and transmits light in a second polarizing direction different from the first polarizing direction and composes the first and second colored light by the first optical membrane; a polarization plate 20 which analyzes the third colored light; and a second optical element 22 which has a second optical membrane D reflecting light in a specific wavelength region and transmitting light in other wavelength regions and composes, by the second optical membrane, the third colored light having passed the polarization plate and the first and second colored light composed by the first optical element.
