METHOD FOR ACCOMMODATING ATM ACCESS CHANNEL AND GATEWAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gateway device for realizing accommodation efficiency, preferential control on the basis of an input VLAN or an input VC, or band control on the basis of the input VLAN or the input VC in the case that a user uses an ATM access channel to connect itself to a broadband Ethernet (R).

SOLUTION: An uplink protocol conversion section 12a searches for a VC-VLAN table 14a on the basis of a VC of a cell from an ATM switch 2 and utilizes a VLAN-ID of an entry to assemble cells into frames, and transmits the frames to a SW section 16. The SW section 16 searches for a MAC switching table 18 by using a destination MAC address for a key, and transmits the frames to a LAN switch 6 via an Ethernet LI section 19 after performing flooding when no entry of the MAC address exists in the table 18.
