PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical isolator element for a small-sized in-line optical isolator or the like, which is small in the amount of beam shift. SOLUTION: The optical isolator element has a non-reciprocal part formed by arranging wedge-shaped birefringent crystals 11, 13 and an inclined Faraday rotator 15 on a substrate 14. The Faraday rotation plate is inclined to the light axis and is disposed so as to reduce the beam shift which is a translation distance between a straight line extended by the center line of a light beam made incident from the forward direction to the optical isolator and a straight line extended by the center line of a light beam emitted in the forward direction from the optical isolator element. Therein, the direction of the inclination is determined in such a manner that the incident angle of the light beam made incident from the forward direction to the Faraday rotation plate increases along with the inclination.
