PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a plastic lens transparent and less discolored, having a higher refractive index and Abbe's number without largely affecting fundamental properties such as mechanical strength and impact resistance, and a plastic lens. SOLUTION: The method for producing the plastic lens comprises a step of mixing (a) a prepolymer, (b) a compound having an epithio group and≥98% purity sulfur substantially free of impurities with≤120°C boiling point to obtain a mixed solution (a mixture X), and a step of mixing (c) a catalyst in the mixture X.
