PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of short circuit between adjacent contacts by arranging an insulating member between contacts, eliminate a load to the contact by pushing an IC package with the insulating member, utilize it as a positioning mechanism in inserting the IC package, and eliminate a hitch by the contact in taking out the IC package. SOLUTION: For the IC socket having a vertically movable cover member, a plurality of clipping type contacts forming an electrical connection with the mounted IC package, a socket main body to which the contact is fixed, and a moving plate retaining the contacts with a distance, the contacts have a fixed side elastic contact piece and a movable side elastic contact piece, and arranged at right and left sides against the neutral surface respectively, and the insulating member is arranged between the fixed side elastic contact piece and the movable side elastic contact piece of a contact of adjacent another group.
