The suspended light source has a metal housing (12) within which there is a strip light tube (28). The light reflects off side elements (20) and through a transmitting plate (46) having a holographic layer (48) and a partially transmitting layer (49). This results in the illuminated region being limited to a specific region (a, alpha) and outside of this the regions are dark.
