An optical recording medium has on its track a plurality of data block areas and linking areas composed of pseudo data and inserted between the data block areas. Each of the data block areas has main data for the block serving as an error correction unit for the main data and has a structure that the main data of the block is divided into main data pieces of a predetermined number and the main data identification data is added to each of the main data pieces. Recording patterns of adjacent pseudo data between tracks are different from each other. A recording device for forming a data block area and a linking area on the recording medium is also disclosed.
