Double crucible comprises an inner crucible (2) surrounded by a heated outer crucible (1). The inner crucible is heated separately from the outer crucible. The outlet nozzle (2a) of the inner crucible protrudes over the outlet nozzle (1a) of the outer crucible. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of glass fibers or preforms for glass fibers using the double crucible.
