PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the distribution of contents in which copyright protection is taken into consideration by distributing the contents in a state that the control of duplication is possible by additional information indicating the validity or invalidity of a duplication operation. SOLUTION: A content distribution system is provided with a server 10 which distributes content data and a client 30 which receives the content data from the server 10 through a network 202. The server 10 transmits the content data with additional information relating to a duplication processing. The client 30 receives the content data from the server 10, displays them, detects the additional information from the content data when receiving the instruction of duplication for the displayed contents, and controls the duplication processing on the basis of the detected additional information.
