METHOD FOR PRODUCING CYCLODODECANONE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing cyclododecanone (CDON) from cyclodecatriene (CDT) in high yield.

SOLUTION: The CDON is produced as follows. The CDT is epoxidized with H2O2to separate the resultant reaction mixture liquid into an oily phase/aqueous phase. The unreacted CDT is recovered from the oily phase and the resultant epoxycyclododecadiene (ECD") is then hydrogenated in the presence of a platinum-supported catalyst.The obtained epoxycyclododecane (ECD) is further isomerized in the presence of an alkali halide catalyst.
