PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for editing an image. SOLUTION: Each image editing operation is described by several parameters. A plurality of users can share an image process modification by sharing a few of the parameters instead of an entire bitmap of an image. An editing list describes a plurality of parameters defining the image modification. Size of the editing list is very small and ideal for transmission on a network and for a cooperative work. The image editing list is independent of the image itself. Other advantages can be obtained by separating the image editing list from an original bitmap image. For example, the same editing list can be applied to another image, and also can be applied to a plurality of images at the same time. Rendering of the modified image can be performed only when required after that time point. For the cooperative editing, an transmission time are greatly reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
