摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a gasket material, in which adhesiveness of a stainless steel plate to a rubber layer is sufficiently attained when the rubber layer is formed on the stainless steel plate and production steps are readily carried out. SOLUTION: The method for producing the gasket material comprises applying a silica/chromic acid complex coating type chromate treating agent containing both of the trivalent Cr and the hexavalent Cr and silica having 5-50 nm particle diameter, in which the weight ratio of silica/chromium (chromic acid) is 1-4, in a coating amount of 30-100 mg/m<SP>2</SP>expressed in terms of chromium after coating onto the stainless steel plate, drying the coated material at 50-250°C to form a complex coating type chromate treated layer and forming a cured rubber layer of a nitrile rubber or fluorine rubber through a baking type adhesive on the treated layer.
