PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration damping device for a handlebar, to be mounted on the vibrating handlebar of a mowing machine for effectively damping the vibration down to a satisfactory feeling level. SOLUTION: The vibration damping device comprises rigid housings 32, 42 to be displaced integrally with the vibrating handlebar 20, mass members 36, 46 provided freely movable relative to the housing 32, 42 in the vibrating direction for colliding with the housings 32, 42 during vibration, gaps formed between each of the housings 32, 42 and each of the mass members 36, 46 for allowing the free movement of the mass members 36, 46 in the vibrating direction, and elastic bodies 38, 48 formed on abutting faces between each of the housings 32, 42 and each of the mass members 36, 46.
