PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base isolation structure for a building which is low in cost and high in base isolation performance. SOLUTION: The building 1 is composed of a lower structure 2 and a superstructure 5 wherein the lower structure 2 is formed of a plurality of columns 2a. Each column 2a constituting the lower structure 2 has a base isolator 3 arranged on a head thereof, and the superstructure 5 is arranged on the base isolators in a manner being borne by the same. The superstructure 5 is formed of steel truss frames each composed of columns 9 arranged on tops of the base isolators 3, a top chord 6 and a bottom chord 7 connecting upper edges and lower edges of the respective columns 9, respectively, and a diagonal 8 arranged between the top chord 6 and the bottom chord 7. The truss frame is of a mega-truss type having a long span between the columns 9 as adjacent vertical members and a long column 9 length, and the superstructure 5 has high horizontal rigidity. A foundation structure 10 bearing the building 1 is provided with individual footings, which dispenses with foundation beams 13. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
