PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically wash sponges with plates arranged at upper and lower multi-stages on the same faces by showering from a watering pipe while pressurizing and grating. SOLUTION: A method for automatically washing sponges with plates is to wash sponges with plates by pressurizing and lifting a grating means while watering washing water on the surface of the sponges with plates arranged the surfaces flush in a vertical direction and in parallel. Then, the apparatus for automatically washing sponges with plates combines a detachable fixing means arranged a plurality of sponges with plates flush in a vertical direction and in parallel, a pressure and grating means pressurizing and grating the surfaces of the sponges with plates, a lifting means reciprocating and lifting the pressure and grating means and a shower means watering on the surfaces of the sponges with plates.
