<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for preventing consumables such as a toner-set from being illegally used, as for an image forming apparatus such as a printer device. <P>SOLUTION: Information constituted of consumables ID, a flag showing whether the consumables are in use or not, a flag showing whether the consumables reach the replacement time are stored in a server connected to the image forming apparatus through an internet, and when the power source of the image forming apparatus is turned on, when new consumables are set in the image forming apparatus, and also, when the consumables are consumed, the information is checked so as to decide whether or not the consumables are illegally used. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
