<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflective/transmissive liquid crystal display device in which a color image with excellent quality is displayed in both reflective and transmissive display modes. <P>SOLUTION: Each pixel A of a liquid crystal element 1 is divided into reflective display parts A1 which carry out display by making light incident from the front side and reflected by a reflection film 8 outgo to the front side and a transmissive display part A2 which carries out display by making light incident from the rear side to outgo to the front side. Color filters 9R, 9G, 9B of a plurality of colors respectively corresponding to the reflective display parts A1 of the respective pixels A are mounted on the inside surface of a front side substrate 2 of the liquid crystal element 1 and, at the same time, a light source 16 having a plurality of light emitting elements 17R, 17G, 17B respectively corresponding to the respective pixels A and making these light emitting elements respectively emit colored light with colors practically identical to those of the color filters corresponding to the reflective display parts A1 of the pixel A to which the light emitting elements correspond to the pixel is arranged on the rear side of the liquid crystal element 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
