An aircraft tyre has an anti-splash rib 8 of triangular section moulded integrally with, and projecting laterally from, one or both sidewalls to reduce the angle of splash, the rib projecting laterally for one twentieth to one sixth the overall axial width of the tyre and the radially outer face 8 of the rib being substantially cylindrical and spaced from the tread crown by one half to one third the radial height of the tyre section so as to remain out of contact with the ground when the tyre is flattened under load. The rib may be reinforced by layers 10, 11 of parallel cord fabric the radially inner edges of which abut the carcase plies 12 adjacent the bead 13 and the outer edges of which terminate in spaced relation at the centre of the rib.</p> |
