PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel improving emission efficiency of a phosphor and having high luminance even if definition is higher. SOLUTION: The plasma display panel 1 comprises a front surface side substrate 10 having an information display surface 10b, a back surface side substrate 20, a barrier rib 30 disposed between the substrates 10, 20, a discharge cell 31 formed surrounded by the barrier rib 30 and the substrates 10, 20, and a phosphor layer 35. The sum of the surface area of the phosphor particles forming the phosphor layer 35 is between 100mm<SP>2</SP>/mm<SP>2</SP>and 3,000mm<SP>2</SP>/mm<SP>2</SP>per unit area of the information display surface 10b.
